The second and third weeks of March will be the busiest here on the Emerald Coast! Expect lots of spring breakers in town those two weeks! The AVP(American Volleyball Professionals) will be in Panama City for a stop in the tour in March! Be sure to make prior arrangements ahead of a busy time coming! Valentine's Day on the Emerald Coast is romantic! The beach is a great place for romantic ideas! Many lovers will be making reservations and buying flowers for their loved ones. Planning ahead is a great idea!!! The beaches on Okaloosa Island are great for getting a big blanket and laying on the beach with your loved one. The dunes in particular are great for watching stars due to the low amount of lights in the area. State Farm is is dropping Florida customers! Nearly one million customers will be affected by State Farm pulling out of Florida. Customers will have time and notice to switch providers. State Farms financial condition and rising costs are why policies are being discontinued. There are almost 25 other providers of homeowners insurance in Florida. Mardi Gras is a great time on the Emerald Coast! The Pensacola Mardi Gras Parade takes place February 21 at 2 p.m. in downtown Pensacola. Parade goers can expect a big turnout due to the popularity of the festive weekend in Pensacola. The Sandestin Resort and Harbor Walk will also be great places to enjoy Mardi Gras on the Emerald Coast! Pompano Joe's is underway with many developments! The parking lot is half way layed with cement and coming along very quickly! The exact finish date is not known, but construction is moving very quick! The Pompano Joe's restaurant has a new deck being built out front that will host live music and be accompanied by an outside bar! There is more to come... The Beachwalk Cafe is closing! Tim Creehan recently closed his restaurants temporarily due to the tough economic times. The Inn at Crystal Beach is not allowing the Beachwalk Cafe to reopen in its original location due to Creehan's request to close the restaurant an additional month. The Beachwalk Cafe will reopen after the first of March at the Great Events Center behind the Community Bank west of Emerald Coast Parkway and Holiday Road.
