Some Of The News Covered:The Emerald Coast is great for Mother's Day! The Emerald Coast is a great place for mothers to feel special and have the great treatment they deserve! Many restaurants on the Emerald Coast are doing special lunches and dinners for moms. Tim Creehan's Beach Walk Cafe is doing a Sunday brunch and dinner! The Beach Walk Cafe is located right on the beach! Panama City's Firefly Restaurant is offering a Mother's Day Lunch that starts at 12. Both The Beach Walk Cafe and Firefly are great places to take mothers and "wow" them! Walton County is moving forward with beach renourishment. As Okaloosa County fights lawsuits that has brought beach renourishment to a halt, Walton County is trying to get federal help. The Tourist Develoment Council of Walton County has met with congressional committees to find ways of funding and keeping the renourishment project as a federal one. Walton County TDC is pursuing the federal avenue because the federal government will fund 50 percent of the project and partner on the project for 50 years. Destin was featured on NBC! NBC recently did a 4-day series called "Sea Changes". The story featured Destin, Florida's commercial fishing, but included a global perspective on overfishing. Red Snapper was a focus of the series. Red Snapper along with other fish species have new fishing regulations as part of a conservation effort. Hurricane season is almost here! The 2009 hurricane season is just around the corner. Each year meteorologists make predictions on how many storms there may be during the season. The predictions include number of storms, how many become hurricanes and how many are major. According to Accuweather, the 2009 season might see 13 named storms, eight becoming hurricanes and two hurricanes being major storms. The Emerald Coast can be viewed on web cams! There are many webcams located on hotels and buildings along the Emerald Coast. Okaloosa Island has two streaming beach cams. Anglers Beachside Grill has a webcam for beach weddings, but the camera allows visitors away from the area to get a live view of the beach. Also, The Breakers Condominiums have a live beach cam too! The Angers beach cam can be viewed at www.anglersbeachsidegrill.net. The Breakers web cam can be found by google searching Breakers Condominium, which is on Okaloosa Island. Pat O'briens is one of the best places to dine on the water! Pat O'briens is located at the Harbor Walk Village on the Destin Harbor. The restaurant has outside seating, which offers a clear view of the pass and the harbor.
