Some Of The News Covered:Oil spill threatens the Emerald Coast. The explosion at the Transocean Deepwater Horizon has become a crisis on a phenomenal scale. Oil will continue to leak into the Gulf of Mexico until crews can fix the damage. The site of the oil spewage is some 5,000 feet down, which makes the job very difficult. Rough seas and bad weather have hampered efforts to control oil at the surface. Many residents along the Emerald Coast are unsure of what is going to happen. Sandestin Wine Festival had many tasters! Bad weather put a damper on the first day of the wine festival. Weather cleared to bring out the wine tasters. There was more than 100 different wines and 80 different vineyards both nationally and internationally. A culinary tent was set up for wine pairing as well. The wine festival is known for being a great event and having a great turnout! Emeril Lagasse on the Emerald Coast! Everyone from CEOs to chefs enjoy the Emerald Coast. Emeril Lagasse famous for his cooking often visits South Walton County with his family. Recently, Lagasse made a visit for the opening of Louis Louis. Along with Lagasse, many other well-known names often visit the beautiful beaches of South Walton. New location planned for the Destin Seafood Festival. Many people are happy about the Destin Seafood Festival being back on the harbor. The only complaint is the lack of space for the festival. The Destin Chamber of Commerce has decided to move the festival down the harbor by Fisherman's Wharf and Dewey Destin's Seafood. The new location will create more space and draw in more than 30,000 people. There's a time and place for a cocktail! A cocktail on the Emerald Coast can be cheap in some places and expensive in others. Most happy hours take place from 3-5. Destin has seen a lot of new bars open within the past year. Many bars and restaurants are having to compete with each other when it comes to drink specials. Destin is the best bet for a cheap cocktail. Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport opens soon! May 23rd is the opening day of the new international airport in Panama City. Final fixes and preparations are being made just before Delta and Southwest Airlines settle in. The St. Joe Company has closed its headquarters in Jacksonville after 75 years to relocate to West Bay.
